Welcome to the memorial page for

Eva Lillian Schoen

July 19, 1928 ~ March 13, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Lillian Schoen left the mortal world on March 13, 2017.  Born Eva Lillian Weber to German immigrant parents in Miami, FL, in 1928, her Father died when she was just 3 years old.  Her mother relocated them to New York City.  She grew up helping her mother run a series of boarding houses and even a hotel, never complaining about the work she had to do.  She graduated from Jamaica High School in 1946, then attended Hunter College.  Before attaining her college degree, she met and married Robert Schoen.  Bob joined the newly-created US Air Force, and she became a military wife.  Together, they had 3 daughters, Barbara Schoen (deceased), Karen (Banks), and Melody (Tooke), both now in Mossy Head, Fl.  During an assignment in Wiesbaden Germany, they joined a square-dance group, which became a passion they continued when Bob retired and the family returned to FWB.   Bob worked many years at Okaloosa-Walton Jr College, and Lil continued her education there and earned an AA degree.  She also enjoyed many art classes.  Bob and Lil bought an RV and became frequent campers, becoming very active in local camping clubs.  Together, they traveled all around the US.  They both became active in the Republican Club, and Lillian became active in the German Club.  Lil was also a big part of The Church of Christ Scientists and her neighborhood association.  Lil was loved and admired for her friendliness, generosity, and especially her smile.  Bob crossed over in 2003, and Lil missed him terribly, so we are glad that they are together again.  Missing her are her 2 daughters, son-in-law Rick Tooke, her grandchildren, Lora (Jason) Figgat, Brian (Gabrielle) Banks, Summer Leigh Banks (Krizia Cruz), Christina (Andy) Hovermale, and step-grands Robbie (Missy) and Candice Banks, as well as many friends. A memorial service will be held March 27, 5 PM, at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Niceville, Fl.  Visitation will begin at 4:30.  Friends, neighbors, and family are invited to share memories.
