Paul Richard Heinz

LCDR (Ret) Paul R Heinz, USN, served as on the staff of the Naval Air Systems Command Test & Evaluation Coordinator, based at the NAS Patuxent River, MD in the capacity of Aviation Safety Officer. He ensured that activities in control of the Navy's three hundred plus Research, Development, Test & Evaluation Aircraft maintain a viable safety & flight test program. On June 1,1975 he retired from the Naval service after 20 years of continuous active duty.

Paul's USN career began in 1955 as a Naval Aviation Cadet, he received his commission and "Wings of Gold" in 1956. Has career included Airborne Early Warning, Fleet Tactical Support, AEC Courier, Strategic Air Command Logistics Support, Naval Flight Instructor, Taiwan Defense Command Flag Pilot, Oceanographic Research & Development, Qualified Polar Navigator, U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Naval Aviation Safety School.

LCDR Heinz wears many awards including : Korean Order of Military Merit, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal w/three Bronze Stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, & Air Medal.

Paul was born on July 4, 1934 to Paul and Colette Heinz of Shawano, Wisconsin. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Colette Thompson, Shirley Hertz, & Dorothy Laehn. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred, daughter, Deborah Wood of Great Falls, MT: daughter, Patricia Hutcheson of Crestview, FL: son, Joseph Heinz of Niceville FL.
