Angela Budden

December 2, 1929 ~ February 4, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Angela P. Budden, lovingly known as “Pippi” to her family and friends, went into her Savior’s arms on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the age of 93.

She is survived by her four children, Diana (Michael) Ratliff, Russell (Kristin) Budden, Linda (Carl) Gustman, and Randy (Mindy) Budden.  She had 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews, and a countless number of friends.

Pippi was born to Carmella and Anthony Perrine on December 2, 1929, in Trenton, New Jersey.  She was predeceased by both parents and her sisters, Helen Sprague and Jean Paddock, along with her nephews Bobby Paddock and Mearle Sprague.

Angela was married to her loving husband, Russell F. Budden, for 46 years before his passing in 1999.  They were married in Trenton, New Jersey and, after the birth of their first child, moved to Florida where they remained for the rest of their married life.  They loved dancing to all the Big Band songs and their favorite was "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. Russ jokingly gave her the nickname "Pippi" and it stuck with her for the rest of her life, but his personal name for her was Buttercup.  They had a wonderful marriage and in the 1950's purchased the property on Bayshore Drive.  They built the house little by little until it was completed and raised their family there.  Each of their children came back and brought their children, who brought their children throughout the years. The annual Fourth of July festivities were cause for a family reunion and they even held one of the grandchildren's weddings there.  They made their house a home for everyone.

Pippi joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1963 and was a member of Chapter Torchbearer Tau in Niceville.  She was a loyal member and held all offices in her chapter.  She held the highest degree of Torchbearer.  She will be missed by all her sorority sisters with love.

In addition to her sorority sisters, Pippi was a member of the Legacy Sunday School class at Church on Bayshore.  She was a longstanding member of the church where she served on numerous committees during her membership there.

Pippi loved everyone she met and to know her meant you were added to her never-ending Christmas card list.

She not only raised her four children; but was the one they turned to when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were sick and unable to go to school but their parents had to work.  She was always willing to make Humpty Dumpty eggs and/or cinnamon toast and to wipe their fevered brows.  She was also happy to entertain the family with endless rounds of Liverpool rummy, food fights, sweet tea, and/or gab sessions.  She was everything to everyone and she will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Thursday night, February 9, 2023, from 6 pm until 8 pm at McLaughlin Mortuary, 1405 E. John Sims Parkway, Niceville, FL.  Funeral services will be conducted at the Church on Bayshore, 622 Bayshore Drive, Niceville, FL on Friday morning, February 10, 2023, at 10 am with the interment to follow at Early Cemetery.
