Barbara M. Knowles

Barbara Manning Knowles was taken home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.   She is proceeded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Manning, her paternal grandparents CF and Ethel Manning of Crestview, and maternal grandparents Roy and Louise Ruckel.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lynwood E. Knowles. Her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and Bruce Castleberry, of Crestview, FL and daughter and son-in-law, LeAnne and Gee Linton of Crestview, FL. Her beautiful grandchildren, Katie and Kelly Castleberry and Gianni and Gavin Linton.  Her sister Beth Manning; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Curtis Weller. Her niece, Tracy Alderson and her family, Paige and David Schwartzburg (wife Carissa, son James). Her nephew Travis McNeil and his family (wife Taanya, kids Jacob and Rainy) and nephew Scott McNeil. Her best friend, Susie Heath and local family of many cousins, and friends whom she enjoyed growing up with as a child in Valparaiso.

Two years after graduating from Choctawhatchee High School, Barbara met Lyn in May, and married in August of 1967.  They moved back to Valparaiso after 31 years of living all over Florida and Atlanta, GA. In those years she served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, GA leader, and volunteered in the church. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She has been in the retail business, a photographer’s assistant and photo printer, teacher’s assistant in ESE, and owner/manager of their own self-storage business.  She has been a member of the Niceville-Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce, she served on the board of directors for the Heritage Museum of NW Fl, volunteered at the Children’s Advocacy Center and Exodos Thrift Store. Lyn and Barbara loved to travel and be grandparents.

Due to social distancing protocols there will tentatively be a family only graveside service at Sunset Cemetery on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at 11:00am. Expression of love and sympathy may be viewed or placed at www.mclaughlintiwncities.com.
