Basel Eugene Queen, 71, of Freeport, Florida passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Basel Queen was born on December 13th, 1949 to Basel and Willella Queen in San Antonio, Texas.  After graduating from Walnut Ridge High school in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of the same year.  Basel spent 20 years in the military serving as part of the Red Horse Squadron in places all over the world including tours in Desert Storm, Okinawa, Guam, the Azores, Egypt, and stateside.  After retiring from his career in the Air Force, Basel worked for the City of Niceville for the next 22 years.

On May 19th, 1973, Basel was married to Teresa Ann Weeks and spent 46 years together.  Basel was a beloved Christian husband, father, and Paw-Paw who loved his family and friends very much.  Some of his favorite pastimes included playing classic rock on his guitar, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Basel is survived by his wife Teresa Queen of Freeport, Florida, his daughter Keri Butler (Joe) of Niceville, Florida, his granddaughter Emma Butler, and his siblings Brenda Shell (Russell) of Tampa, Florida, Beverly Smith of Tampa, Florida, Bonita Robin Whittaker (Stephen) of Fischer, Texas, and Betsy Queen of San Antonio, Texas.   

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2 PM at Niceville Church of Christ.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Heritage Gardens with military honors presented.
