Betty was number 6 of 10 children raised on a farm in the Kinsey, Al area and graduated from Newville High School in 1949. She and Orin married in 1953 and moved to Florida settling in Valparaiso in 1962 where she has lived since. She began proudly working for the Okaloosa County School District as a secretary at Niceville High School in 1966 and later worked at Valparaiso Elementary and Ruckel Middle School where she retired in 1993. She loved her church and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Valparaiso (1962-2006) and First Baptist Church on Bayshore (2006-present). Through the years, she enjoyed meeting with her sewing circle, Bible study group, her Pheobe Sunday school class, and was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves. She especially loved serving her family a home cooked meal and big extended family gatherings. She was affectionately called “Granny” by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others who loved and adored her. She was known for her generous spirit, encouraging words, and the love she showed everyone she met.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church on Bayshore in Niceville on Friday, December 3rd, at 1:00 and funeral at 2:00. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
