Dominick Louis Careccia

Dominick Louis Careccia age 90, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on January 4, 2023.

He was born on June 23, 1932 in New York, New York to parents, John and Laura Careccia.

Dominick entered the United States Army basic training in August 1949.  He retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major on August 31, 1982.  He served in Korea, Japan, Greece, Cambodia, two tours in Viet Nam, Germany and numerous Army Posts/Air Bases within the United States.

Over the course of his service in the Army, Dominick received the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star for Valor, 36 Air Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, the Purple Heart, and 8 Good Conduct medals.

After his Army career, Dominick continued to serve the United States as a Civil Servant from 1983 to 1993 in Greece.

Dominick is predeceased by his first wife, Josephine, his parents and his sister Angelica Singleton.

He is survived by: his wife, Sofia (Lisa); his sister, Angelina Careccia Bartone (Bill); his three children, Loretta (Ed) Kosiba, Joseph Careccia, and Adrienne (John) Moore; his grandchildren, Jenny (Josh) Williams, Erin (Darrell) DeLaney, Nathan (Regina) Kosiba, Dominick (Gwenda) Decaria, Lauren (Daniel) Trevorrow, Heather (Chuck) Vilela, Mandy (Dustin) Khaffaji; and 19 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, 1405 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, Florida 32578.

Interment will take place at 2pm on the same day at the Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508.
