Tribute

Francis Wagner

1920 – 2018

Francis Caroline Wagner, of Villa Tasso, died on July 4, 2018, at 97.  She was born October 6, 1920, in Greenville, Alabama, to Hiliary and Leslie DePriest Turner, of Honoraville, Alabama.  As a teenager, she lived with her family in DeFuniak Springs, where she met and married Arthur Wagner.  When Arthur died in 2011, they had been married for almost 73 years.  A graduate of Walton County High School, she spent many years as a federal civil service employee before “retiring” to sell real estate.

She loved the view of Choctawhatchee Bay from her porch; her summers in Ouray, Colorado, where she made lifelong friends; murder mysteries; magnolias the minutiae of life. Above all she loved her family and friends. She was passionately loyal to all of us, thrilled by our achievements, and blind to our flaws. On Father’s Day weekend, she attended her 39th consecutive family reunion in Honoraville.

Caroline survived her parents and her nine siblings.  She leaves, by age:   daughter Carol Wagner Webber and son Curt Wagner (Jin); grandchildren Susanna Solano (Hector), Jonathan Webber (the late Martha), Toren Wagner, and Tessa Lemke (Reagan); great-grandchildren David Solano, Carolina Cardenas (Mitchell), Francisco Solano (Hannah), and Andrew Webber; and great-great granddaughter Adrianne Solano-Frost.  Her nieces, nephews and cousins were important parts of her life, as were many dear friends, old and new; they know that she loved them.

An informal graveside ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, at Sunset Cemetery, in Valparaiso.  Family and friends can speak a few words in her memory if they like.  Instead of flowers, you can contribute to the charity of your choice, or to Alaqua Animal Refuge, in Freeport or simply remember her fondly.
