John Russell Hayer

John Russell Hayer, age 84 of Niceville, FL was born October 3, 1938, in Sparta, IL to the late Russell Temple Hayer and Dorothy Aileen Cleland Hayer.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Jane Drenan of Hoover, Al. (Jeff) and son Michael Jason Hayer (Amy) of Springfield, IL, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ruby Jean Park (George) of Sparta, IL, and his life partner Dania Stager-Snow. John graduated from Sparta Township High School and the University of Missouri at Rolla with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in Springfield after more than 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran. John was an avid and much-respected golfer.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 1:00 PM the family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
