Joyce Barrett

Joyce Barrett beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully March 4th, 2020.  Joyce lived a life worth living. Her honors and accomplishments include being selected Miss Gulfport and First beauty at the University of Southern Mississippi from where she earned her degree. She used her degree to teach many students drama and English. Her drama talents were not just for the class room as she took her talents to the silver screen as well as many plays. An avid tennis player and traveler, Joyce always enjoyed life and had an unshakable Faith. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Beulah Barrett and her great grandson, Oliver  Lesley  and is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Young; three stepsons Stephen, Mark, and Andrew as well as her sister Janice Stacks(and family); son Barrett Foster, and daughter , Amy Shelton (Keith); granddaughters  Katie Foster  and Kelsey  Lesley (Alex). There will be a celebration of life memorial at Village Baptist Church in Destin, FL on March 11, at 10:30 am with a reception following at the church. There will be a graveside service to follow at a later date at Floral Gardens in Gulfport, MS
