Mary Starrett

Mary "Jon" (Laffin)Starrett passed away in her home on March 27, 2021 after she lost her fight with cancer, she was born on May 14, 1943 to Andrew and Mildred Stanfield in Deatsville, AL. She lived her life passionately, purposefully and without fail. Grandmother, Mother, Wife, Sister, and Daughter are just a few of the titles she earned during her life.  She was best known as everyone's mom, and you need not be related to her to be one of her own.  She enjoyed gardening, storytelling, needlework, and family.  She loved her back porch, where she would sit, coffee in hand, watching the sunset.  She equally enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table with any company that arrived, be it her children, neighbors, or friends.  Conversing was her specialty.  She could turn Florida weather into a 4-part mini-series, or yard work into an epic adventure and keep you hooked. She will be sorely missed, yet still a beacon of light for those of us privileged enough to have known her.   She is predeceased by her Husbands: James Laffin and James Starrett.  Sisters: Lorene Hall, Jean Hodges, and Betty Martin.  Brothers: Bud Stanfield, Sonny Stanfield, Bill Stanfield, and Pete Stanfield.  She is survived by her children: Sherry Laffin(Kim), Jim Laffin(Cindy), and Doug Laffin.  Her granddaughter Tiffani Roberts, her grandson Jason Starrett(Kathy) and her step-grandchildren Alex and Zach, step grandson Keith Otto (Tamara) and great granddaughter Alexandrea Rose. Her sisters Patricia Bishop and Margaret Davis.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Sunset Cemetery, Valparaiso, FL at 11:00 am.
