Matthew Stewart Bond passed away at the age of 56 on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in Niceville, Florida.
He is survived by his son, Tyler Bond; his daughters, Allison Bond Taube with her husband Jacob, Amanda Bond, and Veronica Bond; his sisters, Julia Bond, and Melanie Bond Jones with her husband James and children Brianna and William; along with so many uncles, aunts, cousins, and good friends.
Matt was born to Bill and Gail Bond in Torrance, California on the 13th of February, 1966, and raised in nearby Huntington Beach, CA. He grew up with a love for the outdoors, and carried that passion through his life wherever he found himself. In hiking, climbing, surfing, backpacking, fishing, running and more he explored the beauty of the wilderness, and through his work with the Boy Scouts he shared that beauty and love with everyone. He also had a knack for model rocketry, a passion he was able to share through the boy scouts, girl scouts and later in life.
He was blessed with a brilliant mind and knack for reading as well, graduating with a degree in Engineering from Loyola Marymount University in May of '91. After graduation he took a job with McDonnell Douglas that would launch a strong career spanning both the private and public sector of military aviation. An extremely talented test engineer, he notably helped the early successes of the C-17 and F-22, and over the years his work blessed many other aircraft and flight tests.
His music was also a blessing, with the strum of a guitar and a beautiful tenor voice, and he cultivated those talents to share with the world just as he did the rest of his passions. He sang as the lead for several bands, and also serving as a cantor in his church's choir.
Matt was a man overflowing with love, and each facet of his being from his hobbies to his work served to spread that passion to those around him. As he lived and as he traveled he touched so many people with that love, and will be held in those hearts for more lifetimes than can be counted.
