Melinda "Mendy" D. Owens

August 24, 2021

Tribute

Mendy Owens, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister extraordinaire, left this world and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on August 24, 2021.  She was born in Sacramento, CA on April 23, 1958 to Don and Mary Rogillo.

Mendy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially the grandchildren, who definitely were her world.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband David and friends to all the beautiful places our great country has to offer.  She especially loved the mountains out west and always was up for a trip to that area.

If you were fortunate enough to know Mendy, you know what a loving, giving and compassionate person she was.  There is nothing that gave her more pleasure than to lend a helping hand or make someone’s day a little brighter.

Over the last 30 years, Mendy worked in the Financial Aid Industry.  It is here that she helped thousands of students achieve their dream of a college education.  Most recently, she was employed at Okaloosa Technical College as the Financial Aid Administrator.  She worked tirelessly and went above and beyond to make sure her students had an opportunity to achieve their academic goals.  She so enjoyed this role and loved working with all the great staff there at OTC as well.

Mendy was preceded in death by her father, Don Rogillo.  She is survived by her husband David, Mother Mary, brother David, sister Teri, Children Malcolm, Marcus, Matthew (Odalis) and Misty (Jimmy) Stepsons Jeremy and Jonathan.  Also surviving her are her precious grandchildren Isabella, Liam, Sterling, Noah, and Skyler and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

Mendy will surely be missed by all who came in contact with her during her amazing time on this earth.  She was an amazing giving person who was always there to lend a hand to someone in need or just help brighten someone’s day.
