It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Kevin Jones announces his passing after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, along with other complications in Niceville Florida on July 22, 2018 at the age of 64. Kevin is survived by his wife, “CJ”, daughter Jennifer and granddaughter Journee Hagler, daughter Katie and grandson Mason Harris, loving parents, Deacon Michael R. and Ruth Jones (Duluth Ga.), brothers Robert Jones (Katie) and Danny Jones (Kerrie) and sisters Nancy Atkinson and Dianne Miller (Todd). Kevin was the uncle to 13 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother David Roy Jones and sister Kay Marie Jones.

Kevin was born November 23, 1953 in Tyler, Texas. He is a graduate of St. Pius  X High School in Atlanta, Ga. Kevin loved all sports, especially tennis, golf and basketball.

Kevin enlisted in the USAF inn 1975 and retired in 1993. His specialty was K-9 Security. He loved his work and he loved all his dogs that he worked beside in his career in the Air Force, especially Astor.

Kevin serve his country with two tours in South Korea and at Hahn AFB in Germany, Andrews AFB in the Presidential Security detail for President Jimmy Carter. Kevin met his future wife, “CJ” in Korea. They were married for 43 years.

In addition to his tours of duty in South Korea, he was stationed He is a veteran of Desert Storm Engagement and at the completion of his duty assignment, he was stationed at Eglin AFB again assigned to K-9 Security. He completed his military career and was discharged from the USAF at Eglin AFB.

After his military career was completed, he worked with the US Marine Security at Albany, Ga. Later he worked for a contractor for services in Bagdad, Iraq for several years; again K-9 security.

Kevin loved his family, especially his grandson, Mason, who was his bright light during his lengthy illness. Journee was also a source of light and love for him!

He passed away at his home after receiving excellent, loving care from his family, Hospice nurses and caregivers.  He also received Pastoral Care from Holy Redeemer Catholic Church       and the Korean Christian Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church, 1028 White Point Rd. Niceville Fl. Internment will follow at Barrancas National Military Cemetery in Pensacola, Fl. at 1:30 PM.
