Patricia Thomas, age 62, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on July 18, 2019. She was born to James H. and Kathryn L. Weeks on September 18, 1956 in Anniston, Alabama. An Army brat, she spent her childhood following wherever the Army sent her father and grew up in Germany and Japan before settling back home in Northwest Florida. She will always be remembered for being an adoring mother who had no shortage of advice to give, a loving and supportive wife and an exceptional English teacher, having touched many of Okaloosa County’s students’ lives teaching at both Fort Walton Beach High School and Ruckel Middle School during her 38-year-long career. She loved to read, grow flowers and vegetables, and build jigsaw puzzles but most of all—loved her frequent trips to Walt Disney World.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother and survived by her husband, Danny Thomas, and two children, Stephanie and Daniel Thomas.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville, FL and the Mayo Clinic Hospital PCU in Jacksonville, FL for their compassionate care in her last few weeks.
Services for Pat will be held at McLaughlin Mortuary at 17 Chestnut Avenue, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 on Friday, July 26. Visitation will be from 1-3:00pm and the funeral service will be held from 3-4:00. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
