Peggy Bacarisse Kammer died June 14, 2018 in Niceville, Fl. She was born in New Orleans, La.,
April 21, 1934, and was the only child of Antoine Auguste Bacarisse and Myrtle Veronica Holmes.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Kammer, Jr. Robert died March 23, 2018.
Peggy grew up in Covington, La, and attended H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in
New Orleans, La.
Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and they were stationed in Denver,
Co. and Phoenix, Az. before returning to New Orleans in 1955. In New Orleans Peggy was active in
the Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations as a volunteer, and was a member of local
gardening and tennis clubs. Bob was a member of the Southern Yacht Club in New
Orleans, and he and Peggy spent many happy years with friends and family on Lake
Pontchartrain. Vacations in the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s were spent in Florida on the Emerald Coast.
In 1991 Bob and Peggy moved to Bluewater Bay in Niceville, Fl. Together they were active with
the Ft Walton Beach Sail and Power Squadron. Peggy, with Bob, was a member of the Greater
Ft Walton Beach Camellia Society. She and Bob had home gardens with over 75 varieties of camellias,
and competed in camellia shows held in many southeastern states. Peggy was an avid tennis
player, and was a member of the Bluewater Bay Tennis Center for many years.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Terri Kammer Blackburn, husband Dave, and her son Robert
Hale Kammer, III, and by granddaughters Stefanie and Michelle. Peggy is also survived by her close
cousin and friend Patricia H. Guizerix, husband A.P. and their family, as well as loved members of the
Fromherz and Kammer families. Peggy and Bob were blessed to have so many dear friends from their
days in Louisiana and Florida.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Brookdale Bluewater Bay for the loving care
Bob and Peggy both received. Thanks, too, to the wonderful staff of Emerald Coast Hospice.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Peggy and Bob at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St.
Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Rd., with interment in Metairie Cemetery. Donations may be made
to the charity of your choice.
