Tribute

Jerry Ryan Morgan died peacefully at his home on July 24, 2022, from pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 1, 1940, to Joseph and Lina Mae Morgan in Cullman, Alabama. He attended Hanceville schools and graduated from Hanceville High School in 1958. He joined the USAF following graduation. During his Air Force career, he attended the College of the Air Force and Auburn at Montgomery. After retirement, he attended Troy State University Eglin campus.
During his years in the Air Force, he was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson for ten years. During that time, he spent several tours in East Asia during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to the States, he was sent to McCoy AFB in Orlando. There he met and married his wife, Pat Morgan. Following their marriage, they were stationed at Columbus AFB, Little Rock AFB, and then Maxwell AFB from where he retired in 1979. His traveling days were not over, however. He moved to Niceville, FL, and worked for RCA/ Lockheed where he worked out on Okaloosa Island. He was then sent to work for the Army in El Paso, Texas. From there he went to work for the Navy on Wallops Island, Virginia, and lived in Salisbury Maryland. He retired again in 1996 from Lockheed Martin as a Senior Quality/Safety Engineer.
His remaining years were spent working at Bluewater Bay Golf Course and Eglin Golf Course while playing a lot of golf. He and his son Keith also shared many hours on their bass boat up in Alabama.
He is predeceased by his parents, brothers,  Jackie Morgan and Joe Morgan, and one great-grandchild Cooper Campbell. He leaves behind to remember his sons Phillip (Carla), Hawley Texas, R. Keith, Hanceville, Alabama, Devon Hunt, Niceville, Florida.  Daughters Julie (Heath) Howell, Niceville, Florida, and Debbie Fitzgerald, Tucson, Arizona. Grandchildren Adam Campbell, Ryan Morgan, Meghan Johnson, Nathan Morgan, Heather Stephens, Cady Ormsbee, Bryan Fitzgerald, Susan, Branden, and Ethan Hunt. Great grandchildren include Hensley Morgan, Liam Root, Mason Ormsbee, Rhys Johnson, and Millie Morgan. He has one sister, Jean (Earle) King in Mobile, Alabama, and one brother-in-law, Dick (Suzette) Wells in Kansas City, Missouri.
The family wishes to give an extra special Thank You to Dr. Herstel Carter and Crosspoint Church and to Vitas Hospice Care, Zillah, Cassie, and David.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Crosspoint Church Niceville on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm.  The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service.  A reception will follow the service.
