Thomas James Kennedy, Jr., age 75, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023. Mr. Kennedy was born in 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas James & Miriam Cunat Kennedy. He retired from Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. as a senior construction superintendent. His career took him to many places both domestically and in many foreign countries. He enjoyed sailing, playing golf, traveling, water aerobics, and trivia nights. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed entertaining in his home cooking and eating with friends and family. He cherished hosting Thanksgiving every year for everyone to enjoy. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed the coastal life. He was a charter captain and loved fishing with his sons and grandsons. He served as the Rear Commodore for the Bluewater Bay Sailing Club. Living in Florida never took away his love for Chicago sports—as he was a consummate fan of the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, and Cubs!
Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Brett Marchand. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca; his children, Thomas Kennedy, III, Kristen Kennedy (Dick), Michael Paul Kennedy (Angela DiIenno), and Ashley Marie Ricard; grandchildren, Charles Kennedy, Hayley Kennedy, Braxton Kennedy, Bella Kennedy, and Michael Paul Kennedy, Jr.; sister, Valerie Fox (Dennis Sartore); step-children, Richard Kent Cashio, Jr. and Latisha LeBourgeois; step-grandchildren, Sydney Cashio and Gage Rojas; step-siblings, Bonnie Marchand, Pat (Steven) Picou, Dudley “Trigger” Marchand, III (Sophie), Wayne Marchand (Charlene), Charmaine Bizette, and Paulette Marchand; many nieces and nephews, family, and friends; and his furry shadow, Leo.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, in Niceville, followed by a prayer of blessing by Father Steven Voit. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bluewater Bay Marina from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The family will receive floral tributes in honor of Mr. Kennedy.
