Tribute

It is with great sadness that the surviving family of Wayne Drexal L’Orange announces his passing on December 17. Wayne L’Orange was born to Fred Juel and Eva Dale L’Orange on January 16, 1947, in Crestview, FL, and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County.

He was best known for his relentless work ethic, his commitment to his customers, and most importantly his absolute dedication to his beloved family. His strive for excellence was clearly obvious in every single task he undertook, but never more evident than in his roles as father and mentor where he was always available and willing to help anyone.

Before his long business career, Wayne was drafted in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal before being released from his patriotic duties. Wayne owned and operated multiple community businesses including a mechanic shop, a paint-and-body shop, parts store, an Exxon service station and the current L’Orange Automotive, U-HAUL and Propane.

He was a business owner in the Niceville for more than 60-years and was committed to providing the best customer service possible to every single customer he served throughout those six decades.

He approached every day, and every challenge before him, with an unwavering determination, resilience, kindness and smile. His will and want to help others inspired everyone who crossed his path, or just stopped bye to shoot-the-breeze and will continue to touch lives for decades to come.

Wayne was a true and honest dirt-road-sport, and a pillar of knowledge and wisdom. If you knew him, or dealt with him, you knew this well.

He is survived by his wife of 58-years, Rebecca Kay L’Orange;, daughters, Shawn Rubin (Mark) of Shalimar; Tonya Harris of Valparaiso; son, Shannon L’Orange (Giovanna) of Crestview; grandchildren, Cassie Reed (John) of Shalimar; Trevor L’Orange of Crestview; brothers Charles of Mossey Head; Hilton (Phyllis) of North Carolina; and sister Tami O’Malley, (Michael) of Melbourne Beach.

His memory shall live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him, and may his spirit continue to guide and inspire us all. His legend will live on in the hearts of loving wife, children and grandchildren, to each of them he was a “cool cat” and the Greatest of All Time.
