He was born in Lovelady, NC on September 1, 1933, the son of the late Thomas and Alma Shrum Cloer.  Also predeceasing him were siblings Everett Cloer, Evelyn Anthony, Jean McGinnis and Carolyn Boston.  TSgt Cloer retired from the US Air Force in 1972 with over 20 years of proud military service.

Following a distinguished military career he returned to Lincolnton, North Carolina where he founded the Cloer Insurance Agency and the Paragon Real Estate Brokerage.  In 1988 he retired to Niceville, Florida where he spent time probing the Gulf Coast beaches for hidden treasure and then taking a job with Eglin Air Force Base as a civilian employee doing bomb range work.

Eventually he became a real estate investor and developer of property near DeFuniak Springs, Florida and took part-time work as a school bus and food truck driver for Okaloosa and Walton Counties, Florida.  He was active in DeFuniak Springs AMVETS Post #4437 where he served in several capacities including Commander.  He loved life greatly and found no challenge too great to overcome.  He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 63 years, Phyllis Ross Cloer, his two sons Don Cloer Jr. (Diane) and Terry Cloer (Tina), his sister, Bobbi Cloer Proctor, grandchildren, Tracy Cloer Ward (Charlie), Dalton Cloer and Rylee Cloer and great grandchild, Kaylee Ward plus many nieces and nephews as well.
